Hoverboard - Safety Information

There has been a lot of news about the "hoverboard" recently and this guide explains how we have responded to each of the points Trading Standards has provided to the public to ensure the safe use of the product.

 
  • Trading Standards say: "Never leave the device charging unattended, especially overnight. A faulty cut-off switch means it could overheat"

    Funstock have had our devices tested by an accredited UK testing laboratory and once fully charged the battery stopped charging. The system was tested for a further 7 hours and no further charge was received by the battery and no temperature change was recorded in either the battery or the charger.

    Even with this in mind, we would still recommend that the device is not left unattended during charging or left overnight (this is common practice for any electrical device).
     
  • Trading Standards say "Check the plug. Many faulty devices have a "clover-shaped" plug"

    The clover-shaped plug did not have a fuse and as a result, if something was to go wrong, it would continue to charge and overload the battery,

    Our products do not come with the “clover-shaped” plug and all come with a CE marked BS 1363 standard plug, with a fuse. The power cables were sourced in the UK from an established and trusted electrical distributor.
     
  • "If buying online, be careful to check the website is genuine and has a contactable phone number and address"

We have placed stickers on all of our devices that give you the necessary safety and contact information and we advise that you do not remove these.

Our returns policy is very clear and we are currently offering full refunds to anybody who is still concerned about this product. Once you receive your product and subsequently would still like to return it for a refund, we are extending our returns period until the 31st January - as long as the device is in it's original, un-opened packaging and has not been used.
